What is Filler Dissolver?

“Filler dissolver” refers to the use of an enzyme called hyaluronidase to break down hyaluronic acid (HA) filler that has been placed in the skin. Hyaluronidase is a naturally occurring enzyme that targets the bonds in hyaluronic acid molecules, causing the filler to break apart and be gradually absorbed by the body through normal metabolic processes. It is a safe, well-established treatment used in medicine for decades, and it only works with HA-based fillers like JUVÉDERM®, not with biostimulatory or permanent fillers.

Because hyaluronidase only affects hyaluronic acid, it does not harm your skin’s natural HA long-term. Your body replenishes its own hyaluronic acid quickly, which means your lips, cheeks, or other treated areas will return to their pre-filler state, not a depleted or deflated version of it.

Every filler dissolver treatment at BB Beauty Lounge begins with a complimentary consultation. One of our injectors will review what filler you’ve had, when it was placed, and what you want to correct. We’re happy to dissolve filler that was placed elsewhere, so even if you didn’t have your original treatment with us, you’re welcome to book a consultation. Because filler correction is highly individual, there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Some patients need a full reset, while others only need a small amount of dissolver to refine a specific area.

Treatment Process

Filler dissolver sessions are typically quick, often 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the area being treated. A topical numbing cream is applied before the injection for comfort, and a fine needle is used to precisely inject hyaluronidase into the target area. Most patients describe the sensation as a quick pinch.

Depending on how much filler is being dissolved, you may need more than one session. Your injector will walk you through what to expect and schedule any follow-up sessions based on your body’s response.

Recovery and Aftercare

Downtime is typically minimal. Mild swelling, redness, tenderness, or light bruising is common and usually resolves within a few days. Does filler dissolver work on all fillers?

No. Filler dissolver only works on hyaluronic acid fillers like JUVÉDERM®. It does not work on biostimulatory fillers like Sculptra® or on permanent fillers. During your consultation, one of our injectors will review what was originally placed and recommend whether dissolving is an option.

Does the filler dissolver hurt?

Most patients find the treatment very tolerable. A topical numbing cream is applied before the injection, and the procedure itself is quick. The sensation is typically a quick pinch at each injection site.

How long do I have to wait before getting new filler?

This depends on how much filler was dissolved and how your body responds. Most injectors recommend waiting at least two weeks before placing new filler to give the area time to fully settle. Your injector at BB Beauty Lounge will provide a specific timeline during your consultation.

Will my lips or treated area look deflated?

No. When hyaluronidase dissolves filler, it breaks down the HA filler product, not your natural tissue. Your lips, cheeks, or other treated areas will return to their pre-filler appearance, not a deflated or depleted version of it.
